A Visitor's Testimony to Kelso's Living History
As a longtime resident of the Scottish Borders, Kelso Abbey has to be one of the best kept secrets on the Borders, as is this jewel of a town. You literally step into living history; touching stones erected nearly 1000 years ago is mind blowing and inspired me to donate and tell friends. Please consider supporting the site — donate, visit in person and share what makes this place special. Walking through the grounds of Kelso Abbey you feel the weight and fragility of every stone; and the space is wonderfully peaceful. How on earth were these incredible buildings erected, never mind still standing; what have they seen over nearly 1000 years? Imagination has never been my problem and this icon is redolent with history, memories, and time. A small donation, sharing your favourite Kelso memory with friends and neighbours helps maintain this heritage for future generations. Join the many who have been inspired and help ensure Kelso's past continues to speak to those yet to come.
